I found an interesting article on the Shape Magazine website that I thought was interesting. It’s not often that you see a list of exercises to skip! So, it was worth a read ~
The 7 that they talk about are:
- Hip/Abduction Machine
- Smith Machine
- Wall Squats with Ball
- Kickbacks and Overhead Extensions
- Seated Torso Rotation
- Leg Extension Machine
- Lat Pulldown Machine
Instead of these exercises and machines, they give you alternatives to swap out. Awesome! When I attended a gym, I used to use quite a bit of these machines, so I was really surprised to see some of them on this list.
In addition to the above, I wanted to give you 2 more exercises to avoid and alternatives to try:
- Floor sit-ups: Instead of laying down, stand up and crunch that way. It’s much easier of your neck.
- Hamstring leg lifts: It’s tough to keep your hips square during this exercise, so try the Warrior III yoga pose. It’s a challenge, but you will get huge benefits.
