A few months ago, I happened to catch a marathon.
No, not a running marathon ~ a marathon of the television variety.
A marathon so captivating that it had me from the first episode. I watched both seasons in record time and have been on the edge of my seat waiting for it to return to AMC. Last night was that night.
The Walking Dead Season 3 started last night.
*Caution ~ if you haven’t seen it, don’t read any further.
- The first change I noticed was that they have gelled together as a fighting force. They have tactics and jobs and it’s all very organized.
- Lori is way pregnant.
- Carl is no longer a boy, but a little man ~ kickin’ zombie ass and taking names.
- Rick is distant and focused ~ a continuation from the Season 2 finale.
- Something happening during the winter that changed Rick and Lori and Carl’s relationships.
Last night they (with the exception of Andrea) took over a prison, which is a great choice because if they can establish a secure base camp there ~ they’ll be behind fences and barbed wire and gates and they’ll safe from the walkers. It’s probably the best place they could find.
~Now isn’t it ironic that the very place that you never want to go ends up being the best place to be in a zombie apocalypse? Who knew!~
Most shocking last night:
- Hershel’s leg amputation. Brutal and, hands down, the shocker of the night.
If I were caught in a zombie apocalypse, I would totally head for a prison or a small island. Those are the only places that I can think of that would be safe.
Now, suppose I could take only 1 person from The Walking Dead Season 3 with me. Who would it be?
Lori: No. She’s 9 months pregnant and is not much of a fighter.
Carl: No. He’s too young and, even though he will no doubt develop into a fighting force, he’s not quite there yet.
Carol: No. She’s just now beginning to learn how to shoot and she’s pretty weak.
Glenn: No. Although he’s quick and useful in the ways of getting supplies and getting in and out of places to gather supplies, he’s just an okay fighter.
Hershel: No. He’s too old and he now has an amputated leg.
Rick: Yes. He’s focused and organized plus he’s a badass.
Andrea: Normally, I would say yes because she’s also a badass ~ but, she’s pretty weak right now and sick.
Daryl: Yes. He’s a hell of a shot with his crossbow, he’s merciless and he’s good at getting food.
Maggie: No. She’s toughened up since last season, but I have to see more of her to decide.
Michonne: Maybe. She’s rough and tough and can weild an sword like nobody’s business. She seems to care about Andrea, but I just don’t know much about her yet.
T-Dog: No. He’s got too much hesitation and he’s not as organized as Rick or as useful as Daryl.
Beth: No. She’s too young and she’s very weak.
So, there you have it. It’s me and either Rick or Daryl heading for prison or the nearest island. Maybe of the Hawaiian variety? Yeah, that would be nice…once we’ve knocked off all the zombies, of course.
What did you think of the premiere last night? What do you think happened during the winter months? Where would you go during a zombie apocalypse and what character would you take with you?
**And since I missed eye candy Friday, here’s Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln. My my..**
