We all want to be healthy. We all want to be strong. We all want to be fit. And, if we’re honest, we all want a rockin’ body.
But we juggle all sorts of balls in the air and no matter what’s on our plates, if anything goes awry, the first thing to go is working out.
The bad news is you’re going to have to work to stay healthy and strong, but here are two easy things you can do to tone your muscles and keep your ticker strong that don’t take up a lot of your time.
- It tones your muscles, strengthens your heart and helps prevent diseases (heart, diabetes, high cholesterol)
- It reduces your stress by getting you into nature and breathing fresh air
Most importantly, walking builds up your stamina, which is going to be so important when the zombies come. I cannot stress that enough. Do you really want to be the one who gets winded when the zombies are hot on your tail, jonesing for your brains?
No, you don’t.
So, go for a walk. Start with 20 minutes. Grab a friend ~ grab your dog ~ grab your kids ~ go by yourself ~ be the one to put a leash on your bunny and be the talk of the neighborhood.
A plank is an isometric exercise that lasts merely minutes. Yes, minutes!
Lie on your stomach, put your hands under your shoulders and push your body up. Your body should be as straight as a board from head to feet (plank, get it?). Hold this position for 30 seconds to a minute to start and try to build from there.
Two things to remember when doing a plank ~
- Don’t sink into your shoulders.
- Hold your abdomen tight ~ don’t let it just hang there.
In these 30 seconds to a minute, you will be working your back, shoulders, arms, abs, core and legs.
All that in a minute, you say? Yes, I say.
Now, just planks aren’t going to give you muscles like Jillian Michaels. You have to work harder for those, but they will tone you up.
When the zombies arrive, if your weapon of choice is a Michone sword, you might be able to wield that by doing planks, but if you don’t do planks, you may have to rely on a light weighted knife ~you’ll have to get closer to the zombies and, well, your chances of survival go down significantly.
Go for a walk at least three times a week and do 3 planks every day and you too will not only improve your health and build your muscles, but you’ll also up your post-apocalyptic survival chances.
And I want you to make it 😉
What do you do for exercise? Do you walk or do planks? Do you have any workout tips to share? Are you confident in your zombie survival preparation?
